Executive Search
Executive Search in Singapore for Energy, Infrastructure and Industrial Businesses
Leadership appointments carry disproportionate weight in this region. SCG Partners run retained executive search for country leadership, project leadership and commercial leadership across Singapore and ASEAN, in the sectors we work in every day.
Search Where the Pool Is Small
In energy transition, digital infrastructure and heavy engineering across ASEAN, the number of people who have genuinely done the job before is limited, and most of them are not looking. That is the condition executive search exists for.
We work from a mapped view of the market rather than a database. The value is not only the person appointed, but the picture you get of who else exists, what they cost and how the competition is organised.
Because we specialise, we can tell you when a profile you are asking for does not really exist in this region, and what the realistic alternative looks like. That conversation is usually more useful than a longer shortlist.
Appointments We Search For
Country & Regional Leadership
Country Managers, Regional Directors and General Managers established to open or scale a market, usually the first substantive appointment a business makes in the region.
Project & Programme Leadership
Project Directors and Programme Directors accountable for delivery of capital projects across renewables, storage, grid and data centre programmes.
Commercial & Investment Leadership
Commercial Directors, Heads of Origination and Investment Directors responsible for pipeline, offtake and transaction outcomes.
Technical & Operations Leadership
Engineering Directors, Heads of Operations and Critical Facilities leadership responsible for asset performance once construction ends.
Functional Leadership
Finance, HSE, legal and people leadership for regional platforms scaling beyond their first entity.
Board & Advisory
Non-executive and advisory appointments where a business needs regional credibility alongside sector knowledge.
How a Search Runs
Scope and calibrate
We agree what the appointment must achieve in its first two years, not simply what the job description says. That shapes the profile, the market map and the pitch.
Map the market
A documented view of who holds equivalent responsibility across the region, where they sit, and what it would take to move them. You see the map, not just the shortlist.
Approach and assess
Direct, discreet approaches. Assessment against the agreed brief, with honest commentary on where each candidate is strong and where they are not.
Shortlist and close
A shortlist with written rationale, structured interview support, reference work and involvement through offer, notice and start.
Where a search is part of a wider market entry, we run it alongside our APAC market expansion support so the first appointment and the team beneath it are planned together.
Questions Hiring Managers Ask
- What makes a search retained rather than contingent?
- A retained search is an exclusive, committed engagement: we map the whole market rather than working from who is immediately available, and we report on the map itself. It suits leadership hires where the pool is small, discretion matters, or the appointment is strategically important. For less critical roles a contingent approach can be entirely appropriate, and we will say so.
- Do you search outside Singapore?
- Yes. Most of our leadership searches are Singapore-based roles with regional scope, or in-country appointments in Malaysia, Vietnam, Indonesia, Thailand or the Philippines. We map candidates across the region rather than restricting a search to one city.
- Can you run a confidential search?
- Yes. Replacement searches and pre-announcement appointments are handled confidentially, with the client identity disclosed only at the point a candidate is genuinely engaged and appropriately covered.
- Will you consider candidates who need a work pass?
- Where the role justifies it. We flag work-eligibility realities at the start of a search rather than at offer stage, and we confirm the current framework at the point of engagement rather than relying on assumptions.
- How do your fees work?
- We keep fee structures off our website and confirm them in the first conversation, structured around the nature and seniority of the appointment.
- How long does a leadership search take?
- It depends on scarcity, seniority and how open the market is at that moment. We give a realistic indication once we understand the brief, and we will not quote a timeline we cannot stand behind.
